Meet The Walkers

Sue

I started Urban Tailz in May of 2000. I used to work long hours and travel frequently. I often felt bad leaving my dogs and cats home alone. Urban Tailz allows me to spend more time with my family while helping others with their families. Over the years my family has grown. We now have 2 children, 1 dog, 3 cats and usually some visting dogs (we are a foster home for a group called Recycled Rotts). Our Portage Park house is a little crazy but that’s the way we like it.

Carine

My name is Carine, and I started working with Urban Tailz in January of 2005. I grew up with dogs and cats, and I have always had a great love for animals. I wouldn't trade the time I've spent walking dogs and looking after cats for anything!

I went to the University of Arizona and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology. I also went to the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago and studied the Culinary Arts. I have a Puggle named Mucha. Having my own dog has been invaluable in helping me learn about dogs. I am practicing my job 24 hours a day! I always treat all of our animals as if they were my own.

Caroline

Hi! I recently graduated from DePaul University and I am quickly getting acclimated to life in Chicago without classes! Some of my hobbies include music, languages and travel. This picture is of me in Morocco where I spent the summer. There is no better way to start off my days than getting to hang out with some sweet doggies in a sweet city! See you around!

Evan

My cat Callie says hi! I have lived in Chicago two years now and love it! After I received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin, I worked in the corporate world for a bit, but I decided to focus on my love for animals. I am truly dedicated to making sure your dog or cat stays happy. Besides animals I enjoy trying out new recipes and reading.

Jaxson

I’ve been walking for Urban Tailz since March when I moved back to Chicago after an extended stay in Iowa for grad school, where I got a degree it Media Studies with an emphasis in pop culture. In other words, I got to indulge in all of my guilty pleasures and call it research. In addition to walking, I’m currently working on fulfilling a life-long dream -- launching a personal training practice. I spend my remaining waking moments spoiling my beagle-jack, Rodney.

Matt

Matt moved to Chicago in 2006, from Nebraska and strangely enough, is not a football fan. He stated with Urban Tailz in the fall of 2007. Building a rapport with all the different dogs is by far the best part. Matt enjoys long walks, learning new tricks and scratches behind the ears. He dislikes lonely dogs and mean people. When he's not knee deep in dog Matt enjoys painting and making things.

Bernadette

My name is Bernadette and these are my dogs Samson and Floyd. I have lived in Chicago for the last two years and am a student at Columbia. I have been walking dogs with Urban Tailz since May 2005.

I have always had dogs and cats in the family and have been an animal lover my whole life. I got my first job at 13 working at a barn where I fed 72 horses plus goats, sheep and llamas. After that I worked in an animal hospital and then at a doggie daycare. I have also worked in a grooming shop where I washed and dried every kind of dog from teacup poodles to Anatolian shepherds.

I love working for Urban Tailz, I couldn't ask for a better job - I get to hang out with cute dogs all day and walk around our beautiful city

Ben

Hi, my name's Ben. I'm a recent Chicago import originally from rural Illinois. I've enjoyed working with Urban Tailz since February 06, when my friend Carmen got me hooked-up with the puppies. I really enjoy all the time outdoors, exercise, and putting on a good old-fashioned game of "tug-o-war," or "fetch." With the dogs of course.

Berni

Hi! I am Berni! This is me and my beautiful Rottweiler called Lara Cloe… she’s 1 year old and one of the most important thing I have in may life.

I just moved to Chicago and I’ll probably go to college here sometime in the near future.

I have always had dogs at home so I found dog walking as a very enjoyable job. It is a good way to get to know the city and obviously be with men’s best friends, dogs!

Erik

After attending University of Michigan and living in Michigan his entire life, Erik decided to move to Chicago a while ago because it's always been his favorite city. He's had pets his entire life and now has two wonderful Italian Greyhounds named Raleigh and Casey that keep him happy and busy. Erik was in the hotel industry for years, but finally decided it wasn't right for him. He is going back to school to study Computer Science, and now loves spending his days playing with all his furry friends!
